Volunteer Opportunities
A robust volunteer base is needed to preserve, develop and activate Elkhart County’s trail network. Opportunities to get involved are listed below.

- Committees: Various committees exist at the county, local and neighborhood levels and may be long-term or short-term.
- Events: Connect in Elkhart County helps local organizations and municipalities with trail related events. Volunteers are needed both to assist with planning and to make the event day a success.
- Fundraisers: We are seeking connected individuals who are willing to work in coordination with Connect in Elkhart County staff on fundraising efforts. Fundraising will involve deepening and developing relationships with funders for specific development projects.
- Trail Stewardship & Maintenance: We are looking for volunteers to assist with both ongoing and project-based maintenance and stewardship activities. These items include, but are not limited to, monitoring activities on the trail, invasive species removal, brush trimming, asphalt crack sealing & patching, and occasional work such as cleaning up storm damage.
- Community & Neighborhood Leadership: Connect in Elkhart County is seeking passionate community members who are willing staff tables at festivals, offer trail related education and do public outreach as needed for specific development projects.
